And also the coir can be dyed, but it has the tendency of getting back to its natural shade when it is directly exposed to sunlight. Maintenance of coir is very easy and also when it gets dirty it doesnt show. Coir is one of the fabrics that are resistant of bacteria and fungus. It has an ability to spring back to the original shape even after using it regularly. Cleaning the coir is easy and simple. So with very less maintenance coir is the first preference to make floor mats, door mats, rugs, ropes, and mattress. Coir fibre is relatively waterproof and that is resistant to damage by salt water. Fresh water is used to process brown coir and sea water and fresh water both are used to process white coir.1. The important property of cut fibre is the retaining of small quantity of water because they lack fine porous structure. 2. It has got an ability to distribute it evenly, whereas water is passed on very quickly to other fibres. 3. If these fibres are blended with the potting soil and lie close together, the soil's capillary action improves irrespective of whether the plants are watered or drip irrigation is used. 4. Coir fibres give the soil a coarse porous structure, which improves drainage.
