It is the only vegetable that can be grown in saline and alkaline soil. The seeds can be sown directly. No need to transplant, Sow during mild climatic conditions, no frost and no hot weather. The seeds are sown at a distance of 15 cms between plants and 30 cms between rows. Beet are best grown in ground only. They are not advised to be grown in pots. Beet become ready for harvesting in 60-65 days of sowing. Harvesting is done by pulling the roots with hands or with the help of a shovel.
