When taken by mouth: Xanthan gum is LIKELY SAFE in the amounts found in foods. It is also LIKELY SAFE when taken as a medicine in doses up to 15 grams per day. It can cause some side effects such as intestinal gas and bloating. When applied to the skin: Xanthan gum is LIKELY SAFE when used appropriately. Molecular weight: 2-30 million Daltons Solubility: Soluble in cold or hot water, insoluble in organic solvents pH: Stable in a wide pH range of 1-13 Usage : Used as a thickening agent in food products such as sauces, dressings, and dairy products, as well as in pharmaceuticals and personal care products such as toothpaste and lotions
