Shortage of virgin fibrous material and its rising cost, increasing consciousness for cleaner environment, galloping price rise of energy and its shortage have compelled the paper industry to gear its system to use maximum possible quantity of waste paper (secondary fibre). So attempt should be made to upgrade any cheap grade waste paper to be processed in available equipments. Unfortunately no clear cut technology is available in India like developed countries. Economy and Technology differs from country to country depending on so many factors. Product of waste paper must be cheaper than vergin pulp and it should be cleaner and better to satisfy the end use. Unfortunately the heterogeneous quality of waste paper poses problem in formulating a single method. Countries along with various grade of inks are the main hurdle. So chemical and mechanical treatment are needed to isolate undesirable components.
