Product Description

Toluene diisocyanate (TDI) is a colorless to pale-yellow liquid with a sharp, pungent odor used predominantly in the production of polyurethanes. TDI production occurs in closed systems that limit worker exposures. The primary workplace concerns are eyes, skin, and respiratory tract irritation as well as dermal and respiratory tract sensitization. With few exceptions, the reaction between TDI and other compounds approaches completion in the industrial setting such that TDI is completely bound within the polymer matrix before products made with TDI are sold in the marketplace. There is some evidence of TDI-induced carcinogenicity in experimental animals and inadequate evidence in humans.
