Chromite Sand is used in high duty grey iron and steel foundries as core making sand. Globo-L (40 mesh) is produced from natural chromite ore. It is characterised by its high percentage of alpha quartz and, therefore, low clay content, ensuring a good shakeout of the cores. This product is a free-flowing green sand additive used as a mould and core coating in cast iron foundry work. Chromite Sand is a versatile, unique aggregate, unlike ordinary chromite sands. Chromite Sand has a wide range of applications in foundry facings and coatings, where its properties overcome the problems found when labelling with other sands. Chromite provides the essential cooling and crushing properties required to produce moulds and cores.
