Kote Sand (Resin Coated Sand) KOTESAND is a resin pre coated sand used for the production of Moulds / Cores by shell process. For the production of moulds and cores either conventional dump box method or core shooter is utilised. The shell process is a thermosetting process and in this process washed and high graded Silica Sand is pre coated with liquid phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin and hexamine catalyst. We have a range of grades of KOTE SAND to suit foundry's particular operating requirements. The KOTE SAND is prepared in a modern coating plant by warm air process. The coated sand is smooth, dry and free flowing in nature. KOTE SAND is a consistent product with proven performance, since it is manufactured under strict process control, inspection and quality control. The KOTE SAND is the right solution, in case of the foundries which do not have coating units. Ideal pattern temperature should be 220OC- 240OC to get best results. Faster Built up: Foundry experience has shown that wonder sand is having 30-40% faster built up than conventional sand. Faster built up helps in reduction of cycle time & enhancing productivity. Faster Cure : Wonder sand is having accelerated cure speed with uniformity of cure at identical patter temperature and cycle time. This phenomenon is helpful for reducing core and mould weight due to the increased strength resulting from improved through cure. Uniform Build up : Wonder sand is having a peculiar characteristic of uniformity of build up in variety of complex patterns which have sharp corners, edges etc which are critical for casting performance. Due to improved uniformity of build up in these areas, cores and mould weight can be reduced and still maintain the strength at critical points to prevent breakages and cracks. This characteristics of sand helps for eliminating the un-filling problems in cores during manufacture. Easy Shake out: Collapsibility or shake out rate of this sand is nearly twice than the normal sand, this is an ideal sand for aluminium casting where shake- out is the problem. Hollow Cores: Since Wonder sand is having excellent flow-ability, faster rate of cure and uniform build up characteristics, helps for making hollow cores of any geometry with uniform wall thickness.
